Continental Tire Introduces New “GR Cup” Slick & Rain Tire for 2025

2024 GR Cup

• Continental Tire remains the exclusive tire supplier for the Toyota GR Cup racing series

Fort Mill, March 5, 2025 – Continental Tire is proud to introduce a new 240/640R18 “GR CUP” Extreme Contact Dry spec tire for GR Cup Series competition beginning in 2025. The new slicks utilize the same structure and tread compound as the previous model but are approximately 1” taller in overall diameter. The new 240/640R18 Extreme Contact Wet corresponds dimensionally with the new slick and is engineered with the same high performance rain tire technology as the previous GR Cup Wet.

"The new slick tire gives you better braking, sharper steering, and more predictability and forgiveness when you push it to the limit," said Brian Beierwaltes, Head of Marketing US PLT, Continental Tire. "This tire represents our commitment to innovation and excellence in motorsports. We are confident that these enhanced performance attributes will provide drivers with the confidence they need to excel on the track."

This marks the third year that Continental Tire continues as the official tire of the GR Cup, a single-make racing series created by Toyota Gazoo Racing North America (TGRNA). The GR Cup offers drivers the chance to compete in identical (homologated) GR86 race cars and vie for $1 million in contingency prizes. Sanctioned by SRO America, the series provides affordable competition across 14 events at seven racetracks throughout the United States.

"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Continental Tire," said Mike Norem, Manager, Customer Racing. "This collaboration and the introduction of the new tire highlight how Toyota and Continental are aligned in always bringing the best to our drivers. It's a perfect fit for the competitive spirit of the Toyota GR Cup."

The series is streamed on the SRO’s GT World YouTube channel for fans to follow the racing action.
