Fort Mill, S.C., December 29, 2025 – Underscoring their continued commitment to the community, Continental employees had the chance to meet up with the Massey family and local Habitat for Humanity volunteers last week to sign the studs of the new home they are building together.

Stud signing is a tradition where volunteers, sponsors, and future homeowners write messages of encouragement, hope, and blessings on the wooden studs of a new home before the walls are finished. These messages remain hidden within the walls, serving as a permanent reminder of the care and partnership that went into building the family's new home.

The partnership between Continental and the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Lancaster County began in 2023. Earlier this year, Continental donated $180,000 to support the construction of a new home for the Massey family. This donation launched the affiliate’s first new home build since its post-COVID reorganization.

“It’s been challenging getting back to operations,” said Rev. Dr. Sam McGregor, Jr, interim executive director for the Lancaster County Habitat affiliate. “Between a very rainy summer and other delays, we are incredibly excited to be this far along and look forward to completing our first home in over five years!”

The house’s foundation is laid, and the framing is up. Next steps include hanging drywall and completing electrical and plumbing work. Throughout the next phases of work, Continental employees will have the opportunity to come to the site and do hands-on work. The Massey family hopes to move in during the early spring months.

“Part of what is exciting for this partnership is how our people get to be involved,” said Chris Charity, senior vice president of US PLT Replacement Sales for Continental Tires Americas. “We were excited to get out here today and write these encouraging words that will be here forever for the Massey family.”

About Habitat for Humanity of Lancaster County: “Habitat for Humanity of Lancaster County can serve as a driving force for community revitalization through collaborative partnerships,” says Habitat for Humanity, Lancaster County Chair Jackie Harris. “Over the years, we have had the privilege of working alongside Nutramax Laboratories, local government agencies, and dedicated volunteers. For many years, the Arras Foundation, formerly known as J. Marion Sims Foundation, has provided essential support for homeownership through the Habitat Way in the City of Lancaster. Our affiliate has consistently offered a hand-up rather than a handout to address the housing needs in our community. In this continued effort, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Continental Tire, Nutramax, Synergy Structures and Broad Street Homes for their generous donations in helping to make the dream of homeownership for the Massey family a reality. The Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, Lancaster County, appreciates the ongoing support from corporate sponsors, volunteers, and local builders in our continued partnership with these affiliates.”
